This particular piece was a labor of love. I wanted to juxtapose the smoothness and refinement of finished gold with the ruggedness of finding it in its natural environment. In addition, I wanted to accomplish this by using a shape that was both visually compelling and physically sturdy. As a result, I landed on a 3 dimensional pentagram that measures 5″ (W) x 5″ (D) x 3.75″ (H). It is hand poured from concrete, with special meticulous attention paid to blending the rough and smooth textures in a way that looks finished and intentional. After much deliberation I decided to blend the textures on a slanted horizontal line to mimic the way mineral deposits are found in the earth. All in all, this is a wonderful piece that I’m half tempted to keep for myself, but if I did that with all the pieces I created, I’d never have any items in this collection! Because it is poured from concrete it is quite heavy – I’d guess around 3-4 pounds (I can weigh it if you want/need an exact measurement.) I envision this item serving as a paper weight, decoration or candle stand – but use it however your imagination leads you! Only 1 available.
